Volunteer Job Descriptions

As a Volunteer, you will grab an apron and sign in at the Volunteer station. We will provide snacks and water!  At the end of your shift, please confirm your replacement, then return your apron and sign your name back out at the Volunteer station.

**In fairness to ALL, please do NOT schedule your drop-off appointment during your work shift**

Set-Up Assistant:

Help set up racks, tables, signs, etc.

Consignor Drop-Off Assistant:

Assist consignors with their drop-off items and help place items on the sales floor.

Straightening/Neatening Assistant:

Help straighten and neaten all sale items.

Register Assistant:

Help at our register check-out assisting the cashier by counting and making sure all items are scanned and placing them in shopping bags.

Equipment Patrol:

Remove purchased items off the floor into our hold/sold area.

Sales Floor Assistant:

Help us stay organized during the sale while helping customers and security.  You will NOT be required to approach anyone suspected of illegal activity.

Sorting and Tear-Down (mandatory as a second shift):

This is a fun job. It goes really fast with many Volunteers. We sort all the unsold items by Consignor number at the end of the sale. Then we break down all table and racks and load into the trailer. The heavy lifting is left to the guys!

Postcard Delivery:

You will be required to take 10 postcard baskets to local businesses.  After you have completed your basket drop-off, please send us a list of businesses with their addresses.

Choose which days and time work best for your schedule. Once you make your selection, we will be in touch. If your life changes, you have the option to cancel your Volunteer schedule. We simply ask that you do this no less than 7 days prior to drop-off day of Thursday. If you need to cancel after that time, YOU will need to find your own replacement. Those final days are terribly hectic and we do not have time to track down replacements. However, please communicate and involve us so we may be kept up to date on your progress and perhaps help fill the position. In the event that you do not fulfill your volunteering responsibility or find a replacement, a $25 fee will be deducted from your consignor check. In certain circumstances, Upscale Kids Sale may prohibit that individual from volunteering for future sales. We know that sounds terrible, but we will not make this decision lightly. We do not anticipate doing it very often... if ever. However, we want to stress the importance of fulfilling your responsibility. This decision is based on: 1) fairness to other folks who were wishing there were available positions 2) the important role that EACH of you play in making this event successful. You are like gears in a watch....we just don't function as well without ALL of you! :)
